Job Description
The Cyber Security Engineer role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Cary, NC. Target salary range is $95,000 - $125,000 with one of the best benefits packages in town. Relocation assistance is available as is sponsorship for people with at least 28 months remaining on their current visa.
You will be responsible as application owner for a Big Data based Cyber Security Analytics application/service which includes a complex set of technologies, dependencies to a broad variety of data providers and respective stakeholders and governance aspects in order to ensure appropriate service availability, data quality and appropriate usage of the environment. The service is an essential pillar for the Cyber Forensic team providing enhanced analytics function.
Responsibilities of the Cyber Security Engineer:
ITAO – IT Application Ownership of the Cyber Security Analytics Application which include life cycle management, strategic planning and execution (e.g. onboarding of new analytics or new data sources, new usage of the Big Data environment)
Responsibility for continuous maintenance and improvement of the service and application to ensure and increase agreed OLAs.
Ensuring that required documentation for audit, compliance, project and operational purposes is available and continuously updated
Ensure that system and process changes are aligned with the various strategies and policies.
SPOC to the Vendor and L3 Support / coordination in case of issues/incidents
Understand used technologies and leverage its’ approach in regards to data collection / data analysis in order to identify further effective usage scenarios.
POC to GT in regards to any required implementations of new requirements or operational aspects.
Ensure that proposed IT Security solutions are aligned with approved IT Security Strategy.
Provide security guidance to management to meet security directives for new project initiatives and the design of enhancements of technology solutions.
Ensure projects are compliant with the enterprise security architecture framework and secure development standards.
Understand, assess, and document business priorities that will impact the target CyberSecurity Security
Document near-term security solutions to align with existing requirements and designs. Create and document long-term target security
Assess, evaluate, and document existing security technology solutions (i.e. databases, application, network, governance or monitoring security tools and technologies).
Perform gap analysis based on understanding of current-state and target-state IT security
Review the security requirements and analysis, including application architecture for business application development and/or sourcing.
Centrally manage – assess, validate, monitor and close IT Security POC’s to ensure success criteria meet standard solution architecture requirements.
Qualifications of the Cyber Security Engineer:
Knowledge in regards to technologies of Big Data, Hadoop and eco-enviroments, data feed systems [proxy, honeypot, antivirus, Nids, arcsight, splunk]
Understanding in data correlation aspects and its usefulness in regards to Cyber forensics, Security Operations Center and Cyber Intelligence
Experience with and understanding of IT security practices.
Knowledge and exposure to core IT security capabilities and industry market trends.
At least 7 - 10 years of professional experience in IT security.
Experience in building / developing enterprise security solutions
Expertise in security methodologies, standards and best practices (ITIL, ISO 27002, NIST and other security related practices).
High degree of interpersonal skills, proven ability to work well in team settings.
Excellent time management, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in verbal and written communications.
CISSP, CGEIT, CISM, CISA certified (or equivalent).
